AT THE FOREFRONT OF SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION, Potentia is a multi-billion dollar company famous for its development of a drug that can imbue individuals with superhuman abilities. Developed in partnership with the government, the drug Virtus is considered a crucial component of national security; it has been used to create and control a select group of superheroes. These heroes are trained to protect the country—and forced to uphold the interests of the company.When founder and CEO Anthony Pierce created a superpowered son to be the face of Potentia, he never anticipated his own creation would one day turn against him. Known to the public as Salvator, Wesley dreams of escaping his father's control and legacy, though he's tied to the company by more than just his bloodline. His private act of rebellion takes place when he destroys Potentia's scientific facilities, taking away their means of producing Virtus by freeing their test subjects.Salvator covers his tracks well, destroying the evidence of his defiance. Still, with this single act, everything is thrown into chaos. The fallout will have consequences for all.

powers: completely human, but great at research and not knowing when to back down.
HACKMAN
aka harry carter
superhero to some, supervillain to the corporations. got selected for a drug trial, developed cool powers, then realised how fucked up potentia is and made a quick exit. now they're helping salvator and working with marco to further unravel potentia's secrets.
powers: electricity control, able to enter + manipulate digital systems and surf any server.
PROPHETESS
aka eden rose
supervillain. plagued by visions of the future, eden resented potentia for giving her prophetic powers. when she had a vision of siren & seeker hunting her, she willingly joined them instead. now she works undercover for inferno to outwit heroes.

supervillain. kind of. more like a mischief maker who enjoys fucking around and finding out. he's a thief and not all that good at it but it's fun getting arrested by hot superheroes, so who cares? jokes aside, he is really trying to be a modern robin hood.
powers: invisibility and limited-range telekinesis. fire manipulation if he tries reallyyyy hard.

superhero. though potentia might be inclined to call her a supervillain if they knew she disobeyed their orders and helped robbin to escape their prison facility. trying to do the right thing while she hears the corruption taking place all around her.

one half of an infamous supervillain duo, siren & seeker combine their powers to track down heroes and bring them to the collector—or just kill them for fun. their masked costumes protect their true identites. to the public, ileana is a socialite with investments in several superhero companies.

SEEKER

the other half of an infamous supervillain duo, seeker gets his kicks from toying with heroes. in public, sebastian presents as a businessman, sitting on the board of multiple superhero companies. as a shareholder, no one would suspect he's hunting their heroes in the streets.
powers: can identify any superhuman. physical touch lets him dampen and amplify others' abilities.
INFERNO
aka kazimir volkov
known by several names like the collector and hellbringer, inferno rules the villain underworld and causes havoc for corporate superheroes. he seeks those with extraordinary gifts for his collection. his prized possession went missing decades ago, but he is certain siren & seeker will find xeno again soon.

founder and CEO of potentia. playing god, he develops Virtus through experiments on subject one. the drug is in its early stages when he trials it on his son. despite how ill it makes salvator, anthony raises him to be the face of potentia and pushes him past all limits. everything is for the company.

Salvator is invulnerable, but only when correctly medicated by Potentia. The company uses his treatment as a method of control over him. When he's not on missions or in public, they tend to withhold the medication his body needs to function, just to remind him who's in charge.
WHEN MEDICATED, Salvator is spaced out. It's hard to keep track of his thoughts and his speech can become disjointed. Because of this dissociation, Potentia will often direct him via an earpiece during missions and feed him lines during interviews.WHEN UNMEDICATED, Salvator is more lucid but becomes increasingly ill. He is vulnerable to injury and particularly prone to blackouts, seizures and tremors. His in-built heat vision often has him running a fever, unable to regulate his temperature.
BACKSTORY
Born in a laboratory and designed to be the superhero face of Potentia, Salvator's image has been pristine and perfect ever since he debuted to the public. None of them see the hell behind the scenes. He possesses more power than a human body was meant to contain, given to him by drugs that were not yet safe for humans. They have made him incredibly ill, a state that can only be managed by more medication. Salvator's father, the CEO of Potentia, uses this to keep him tied to the company.When Wesley tries to break away, his father orchestrates Salvator's first public disaster: he suffers a seizure mid-flight, crashing down into a building and killing a dozen citizens. Now Potentia keep him drugged into a state of forced obedience, but they don't know he was the one who discovered their scientific facility, destroyed it, and set their subjects free.Outside of missions and public events, he is largely kept isolated by Potentia and regularly gaslit by his father and those working for the company. The only person he completely trusts is Spectre.Salvator has recently made contact with Hackman and Mindmender. They're trying to help him get out from under his father's thumb, offering him sanctuary at an untraceable safe house, a place where he can have even just a few hours or days of peace. Complete escape still feels impossible.

BACKSTORY
Discovered to be an immortal supernatural being, Xeno was imprisoned and experimented on by Potentia under the leadership of CEO Anthony Pierce. With Xeno's DNA used in the creation of Virtus, Potentia kept him locked away in one of their facilities for over two decades in order to continue manufacturing the drug and creating superheroes.One night, Salvator discovers the facility and the imprisoned subjects. He destroys the laboratories and sets them free. Xeno does not know Salvator is the one who saved him; he only knows to flee when escape is made possible. He goes on the run, intent on remaining free.Potentia are actively hunting for him. Xeno is known to be a wanted fugitive by all superheroes.

Ruled by a tyrant, Volkorev is a formidable kingdom of steep mountains and rocks. The land is held in eternal darkness, with a blood moon spilling red light across the kingdom. The court of Volkov resides in a castle atop a towering mountain, with jagged rock waiting to cut any poor souls thrown from the castle walls. Its labyrinthine halls are designed to confuse, making it easy for people to become trapped, unable to escape when the court's revelry turns vicious and deadly. Kazimir Volkov is often called the Demon King. There are rumours about the pleasure he takes in violence and cruelty. Many people who attend his court are never seen outside of it again.Pyotr Andreyev Kumarin is Kazimir’s right-hand. His daughter, Petra Petrova, is a valued and protected member of House Volkov. Pyotr and Queen Ileana Vespertine have arranged for Petra's betrothal to Prince Sebastian Vespertine.

The neighbouring region of Vespera is ruled by Queen Ileana Vespertine. It is a smaller kingdom, though it shares many of the same geographical details as Volkorev. The two kingdoms have agreed upon an alliance, and Ileana seeks to solidify this through matrimony. With the queen and her brother staying as guests at Volkov’s court, gossip is swirling, but Kazimir has a dangerous obsession with his favoured courtesan, Xeno.

The Pierced Isles is a kingdom of islands primarily populated by dense woodland and mountainous regions with a plethora of wildlife. These animals are not the only thing the king insists on hunting. Anthony Pierce runs a fanatical kingdom obsessed with purifying the land of ungodly powers. Anyone possessing what the king deems unnatural abilities is to be captured and imprisoned. The Pierce dungeons are filled with these prisoners, who are experimented on, tortured and then publically executed.The crown prince opposes his father but is kept confined to his chambers. Princess Lucia, however, is a public supporter of her father's work. Agreeing with her parents that her brother is weak, she is angling for the crown.With King Anthony's devotion to religion and science, his hatred of supernatural power has long marked King Kazimir as his greatest enemy. The two kingdoms have been at war for decades, with no sign of either surrendering.

Now on the run, he remains vulnerable to being used as a valuable bargaining chip by any of Kazimir’s enemies.

the witch healer
Silas is the court's resident physician, tending to those caught up in Volkov's games and healing those who are lucky (or unlucky) enough to survive. A powerful ancient witch, he is the last survivor of his coven. He holds many secrets, gathering more with each passing day at court. He recently betrayed Kazimir by aiding Xeno's escape, though Silas' involvement has not been discovered.

the fearless thief
Lifelong thief and mischief-maker. Felix is playing dangerous games in dangerous courts. He often pretends to be a nobleman, adopting disguises to steal from balls and masquerades. Though he was born and bred in Volkorev, he travels between courts, causing chaos for the wealthy. Many would like to see him hung. He recently broke out of the Pierce dungeons, rescuing Evangeline too.

FLORIAN ARLINGTON
the disgraced noble
Destined for an easy life of nobility, Florian never foresaw his adoptive father losing the king's favour—or his head. Now penniless, he has only his talents as a dancer to leverage. He has caught the attention of Queen Ileana, unaware there is a larger game afoot, one relating to the truth of his birth.

Despite her brother being first in line for the throne, Lucia is now angling for the Pierce crown, certain only she will protect their father's legacy and continue his work.

A being of divine light, Evangeline is gifted with telepathy and can read and absorb emotions. A knight of the realm, Emil has been loyal to House Vespertine and working to give his sister a chance at a more noble life. Accompanying Ileana to Volkorev, Emil struggles significantly with the moral conflict of serving both her and Kazimir, two cruel tyrants. His own hunger for blood terrifies him.
